EDM wire erosion

A&M EDM has specialised in EDM wire erosion since the company was founded and we continue to excel in this area. We have a wealth of knowledge of the shapes and tolerances that can be achieved across a wide range of steels, as well as working on other materials including titanium, gold, silver and some ceramics.

Our customers come back to us again and again because we have a track record for innovation, accuracy, quality and short lead times. Our team has more than 90 years’ combined experience and it’s rare to find a customer requirement or problem that they haven’t seen before. They speak directly to customers to discuss alternative solutions to complex machining challenges and confidently say that “if we can’t do it, it can’t be done”.

We also offer an in-house research and development capability to work with customers on both their initial designs and design for manufacturability to help them achieve the optimum solution for their needs.

Most of our work is creating one-off items, from smaller parts to extrusion, mould and press tools, but we also implement longer production runs. To discuss your requirements, contact us to speak directly to one of our EDM wire erosion team.

Equipment

Our comprehensive range of Sodick wire erosion machines includes some of the largest machines in the UK, and enables us to schedule work flexibly to achieve rapid turnaround times. Many of our machines incorporate the latest four-axis linear motor technology to meet the most demanding requirements for surface finish and accuracy.

A&M EDM Limited now has Sodick’s largest size wire cut EDM machine AQ1200L.

A750WH

The A models are from an earlier range of Sodick machines. They still offer flexibility in production planning. The A750WH also provides an increased capacity that, until recently, was unsurpassed in the UK.

AQ750LAQ750L

Cutting area - 750 x 500 x 400mm

The AQ750L Premium can machine workpieces up to 3000 kg The linear motors specially developed by Sodick enhance the surface quality to Ra 0.25, and at the same time cut energy consumption by about 40%. In response to the growing demand for large dies spurred by the huge popularity of large screen TV’s, the AQ750L Premium, also equipped with LP2WH Power supply have been designed especially for machining large dies for large components as well as for automobile parts.

EPOC 1100EPOC 1100

Cutting area 1100 x 700 x 350mm

The EPOC 1100 has a versatility not seen with the other machines in the Sodick range due to the fact that the work piece does not need to be submerged to facilitate the cutting process.

A325A325

While an older generation of machine the A325 adds capacity to the comprehensive suite of Sodick machines.

AG600L (x4)AG600L (x4)

The new range of Sodick AG wire cut EDM range features linear motor drives on 4 axes to ensure the highest accuracy and reliability. Standard features include 3-sided vertical drop tank; a revolutionary design whereby the work tank retracts fully into the body of the unit, allowing easy machining of even larger work pieces. Sodick’s new technology allows the best possible access to the machine and therefore immediate compatibility for automated production.

AQ750L PremiumAQ750L Premium

The EDM colossus with four linear axes. All the advantages of linear technology, also for the machining of workpieces up to 3000 kg - the AQ750L Premium makes it possible. The surface quality is enhanced to Ra 0.25, and at the same time the energy consumption is cut by approximately 40%! In response to the growing demand for large dies spurred by the huge popularity of large screen TV’s, the AQ750L Premium, also equipped with LP2WH Power supply have been designed especially for machining large size dies for large size components as well as for automobile parts such as instruments, panels and bumpers. As an optional extra, the AQ750L Premium is now available with a submerged cutting height of 600 mm.
